"I am a 30 year old Vietnamese female with a scar on my right knee as a result of a childhood burn. Over the years the scar has become discolored: brown with some red areas. A “home peel” worsened the discoloration and creams were not helpful.

I was referred to Dr. Kassir by another dermatologist to treat this scar and discoloration on my right knee. I had an extensive initial consultation with Dr. Kassir at which time various treatment options were discussed. We decided on proceeding with “IPL” treatments, but due to my Asian skin we preformed several test areas to determine the best settings. After just two treatments I see about 65% improvements in my discoloration, and my scar is less noticeable.

"I received a great honor from the International Society of Dermatology as being its first fellow to undergo International dermatological training. This was in the field of Laser & Aesthetic dermatology.

I am currently working as a Senior Resident in the Department of Dermatology at the Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and associated Safadarjung Hospital, New Delhi, India. I had 3 years of experience post my MD degree (specialization degree in Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy- 3 years training) previous to my going in this fellowship.

I was attached with Dr. Martin Kassir who is a senior dermatologist & cosmetic surgeon and was my mentor at the Mona Lisa Dermatology Centre, Dallas, Texas, USA. He has been the guiding spirit and has expertly shepherded the work with his immense talent, creativity and personal interest to help me in fulfilling this mammoth task. His company has been a unique and memorable experience during the course of my fellowship.

I gained adequate experience in use of Botox therapy, fillers (soft tissue augmentation), lasers (Nd:YAG, PDL, KTP, ALEX etc.) and a variety other cosmetic procedures. I also conducted a study entitled “MULTIPLEX PULSE DYE/ND:YAG – A NEW HOPE FOR THE TREATMENT OF LASER RESISTANT FACIAL TELANGIECTASIAS” with Dr. Kassir as my mentor.

I feel delighted to offer my thanks to all my colleagues and staff members. The staff and my mentor were always ready to help in explaining the nuances of the technologies. It was a feeling of being home away from here.

The silver lining was my ability to complete the Basic Aesthetic Laser, Botox and Fillers Training Course with hands-on applications by Aesthetic Medical Institute, California.   In addition, I have also received National Certification in Lasers, Botox and Fillers therapy.

Overall, I feel it was the greatest training and experience I have ever received and I am extremely gratified to the ISD for giving me this opportunity. I have brought back the new technologies to my home country and actively using it to treat my own patients."
